ColorBlind Click for Chrome
Easily find the name of colours

ColorBlind Click for Chrome is a free browser extension which helps the colour-blind identify certain colours.

Click the address bar icon and your mouse cursor changes to a crosshair. Move this around the screen and a small square area displays the target colour. Left-click when you've found the shade you need and the system tells you the name of the colour and the percentage similarity (the higher the figure, the more accurate the description).

More colours to check? Move the crosshair somewhere else and repeat the process. Keep going for as long as you like, and press Esc when you're done to restore normal operations.

Please note, for some reason ColorBlind Click didn't work for us immediately after installation. After closing and restarting the browser it ran smoothly.

Verdict:

ColorBlind Click for Chrome is extremely basic, but could be handy in some situations, and not just for the colour blind. If you're not sure whether a shade is "sea green", "forest green", "dark green" or just plain old "green", for instance, this is a simple way to find out.

Spotlight: Free Full Software

Unreal Engine 4.15.1

Free Full Commercial Software

Unreal Engine is Epic Games' game engine, a powerful suite of tools for developing anything from basic 2D games to professional RPGs, first person shooters and whatever else you like.

Wide standards support - DirectX, OpenGL, JavaScript/ WebGL - means your projects can be targeted to almost any platform: consoles, iOS, Android, Windows, OS X, Linux, HTML5 browsers and more.

There's a vast amount to learn, of course, and that's even before you start building your game. But there's plenty of documentation, tutorials, demos and sample projects to point you in the right direction.

The package is now entirely free, too - no annoying limitations, nag screens or anything else. Epic now only requires that you pay a 5% royalty after the first $3,000 of revenue per product per quarter. And even then, you "pay no royalty for film projects, contracting and consulting projects such as architecture, simulation and visualization."
